1. The 12th annual Darling Dash race for Sickle Cell is returning for a in-person event at 8 a.m. on Sunday, February 27th at Stude Park in The Heights. The event is held in honor of former Houston Texan player Devard Darling's identical twin brother, Devaughn, who died from complications of sickle cell trait. (Click2Houston)
2. A 58-year-old Clear Lake-area woman died Saturday after falling from one of the masts of the historic tall ship ELISSA in Galveston, according to authorities. The fatal incident happened just after noon as volunteers worked on the ship at the dock. (ABC 13)
3. Two restaurants in the Heights, Cactus Cove Bar & Grill and Cedar Creek Bar & Grill, have had an attempted break-in and a burglary in the last few weeks. General Manager Dani San Miguel is offering a $500 reward for anyone with information. (KHOU 11)
4. "From Trauma to Prison Pipeline: The Chapters of My Life" featuring Garlock's unique story, an in-depth conversation about the "criminal legal system", abuse, special populations, reentry, restorative justice and the power of resilience and redemption is coming to the University of Houston - Downtown at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9th. 5. Kenny & Ziggy's reopened at its new home on Wednesday, February 2nd. It opened at the former Luby’s location at 1743 Post Oak Blvd. The new location is larger and has its first-ever bar with cocktails and an old-fashioned soda fountain with milkshakes and sundaes. (CultureMap Houston)
