Man chasing woman down street with car fatally strikes bystander on Houston's south side (click2houston.com) — A woman on Houston’s south side died after being struck and pinned between vehicles when a man allegedly chasing another woman in his car lost control on Corder Street. Houston police say the driver showed signs of intoxication, and investigators with the DA’s office are determining potential charges, including manslaughter or negligent homicide.
   

2. Acres Homes senior living residents frustrated after elevator stopped working for weeks (fox26houston.com) — Elderly residents at the Chelsea Senior Community in northwest Houston’s Acres Homes say a month-long elevator outage has left many essentially trapped in their apartments, forcing some to rely on Houston firefighters for help with stairs. A state representative is pressing management and the elevator company for faster, safer repairs and renewed legislative action on elevator inspections in senior facilities.
   

3. Drones take flight to protect holiday shoppers in north Houston (khou.com) — Law enforcement in north Houston near Spring are flying drones over busy shopping centers to spot suspicious activity and deter holiday thefts during the last-minute rush. Harris County Precinct 4 deputies are also patrolling parking lots, checking for visible valuables, and leaving reminder notices to help shoppers avoid becoming easy targets.
   

4. Harris County Pct. 8 deputy constable rescues woman from burning vehicle in southeast Houston (khou.com) — A Harris County Precinct 8 deputy pulled a woman from a burning car on I-45 in southeast Houston after it flipped and caught fire near the Scarsdale overpass. He smashed a window, lifted her out before firefighters arrived, and she’s now hospitalized with burns but expected to recover. Officials say his quick actions likely saved her life.
