According to police, witnesses said a car carrying the children and their mother was stopped at a stop sign when a dark-colored vehicle drove through the intersection and opened fire. The mother immediately took the children to the hospital following the shooting, police said.

Hatcher said it's unclear whether the mother and her children were the intended targets. Authorities are also unaware of a possible motive.
