Astros Down Tribe 7-2 In Game 1 Of ALDS

The Astros bats were on fire slugging four home runs on their way to winning game one of the ALDS against the Cleveland Indians.

HOUSTON, TX -- The Houston Astros took a one game lead in the ALDS, defeating the Cleveland Indians 7- at Minute Maid Park. The Astros Justin Verlander went 5 ⅓ innings striking out 7 and giving up two runs, while the Tribe’s Corey Kluber went 4 ⅔ innings striking out just two batters, and giving up four runs.

The scoring started with a solo shot in the fourth inning by Alex Bregman, followed by an RBI single from Josh Reddick who drove in Tyler White and put the Astros up 2-0 to start the scoring run.

The Indians went scoreless in the fifth inning and allowed two more runs from Astros sluggers Jose Altuve and George Springer dinging back-to-back home runs. The Astros went into the 6th inning with a 4-0 lead and Verlander nursing a solid pitching game, but the Indians narrowed the gap when Ryan Pressley, who relieved Verlander, threw a wild pitch allowing Yan Gomes to score.

On the next play, the Tribe’s Francisco Lindor would score when Jose Ramirez grounded out to first and cut the lead to 4-2.

The Astros added another homer when Martin Maldonado hit a solo shot in the bottom of the seventh inning making followed by an RBI single by Bregman, making the score 6-2.

The Astros scoring run would end in the eighth when Reddick scored Myles Straw on an RBI single.
Game two of the ALDS will be Saturday at Minute Maid Park with the Astros Gerrit Cole taking the mount against the Tribes Carlos Carrasco.
