Astros Take 2-0 Lead In ALDS, Will Travel To Cleveland For Game 3

The Astros travel to Progressive Field for game 3 of the ALDS on Monday. An Astros win ends the season for the Cleveland Indians.

HOUSTON, TX -- The Houston Astros took a 2-0 lead in the ALDS defeating the Cleveland Indians 3-1 at Minute Maid Park Saturday afternoon. Garrit Cole went seven full innings for with Astros striking out 12 batters with one run scoring. The Tribes Carlos Carrasco pitched 5 1/3 innings striking out three batters with no runs scoring.

The Indians struck first with Francisco Lindor hitting a solo home run in the third inning. The Tribe held the Astros scoreless until the sixth inning when Marwin Gonzalez hit a line drive double off reliever Alex Miller, scoring Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman and putting the Astros ahead 2-1.

Cole struck out three with no hits before being relieved. The Astros added another run in the seventh inning with a solo home run to center field by Bregman. The Astros would hold on to win 3-1, and take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Both teams will travel to Cleveland for game three on Monday night. Dallas Kuechel will take the mound for the Astros against the Indians Mike Clevinger. Start time for that game is 1:30 p.m. CT.
