Black Teen Takes Video Of Confrontation By White Security Officer (Video)

Security officer pulled the handcuffs out rather quickly, but who was there a right or wrong here?

HOUSTON, TX — A security officer in Harris County confronted someone who claimed to be a teenager during an awkward standoff Tuesday. The person taking the video is black and claims to be Marvin Gibson, age 19. However, "Gibson" had no identification and his stated date of birth didn't correlate. The white officer was quick to pull out his handcuffs to restrain Gibson, who said he was going door-to-door dropping off business cards for his business of mowing yards.

"When I saw you, you were going door-to-door-to-door," the officer said. Gibson said he was distributing business cards. "Well, let me see some ID."

Gibson said "I don't have it on me." The officer asked the youth's name and then date of birth, in which the youth replied 10/12/1999, which would make him 18. Gibson questioned why the officer was taking so much of his information, and the officer said he was investigating why the young man was traipsing the neighborhood. Then, Gibson repeatedly asked for the officer's card or for him to write his name down, to which the officer did not provide.

After another request of the officer's name or card, the officer reached behind his uniform and pulled out a set of handcuffs and asked Gibson to turn around and put his hands behind his back. Gibson backed away from the security (apparently a Constable but not quite sure by the grainy video), and the youth told the officer he had the whole thing on video and that he'd see I'm in court.

"We're cutting grass, sir. You're harassing us," said the young man, who flashed his green business card in front of the camera.

The video cuts out halfway through and says minutes later a cop was in his front yard. The video shows the same youth (Gibson) filming from the front door of a house with the cop standing by a tree in the yard. It also shows different police cars driving by in the background.
