2. Houston police and fire department staff are still among the least compliant with Mayor Sylvester Turner’s COVID-19 vaccine order. Just 63% of HFD employees are in compliance, the lowest rate of any city department. HPD is at 69% compliance. (Houston Public Media)
3. The Houston Texans fired head coach David Culley after just one season, according to a tweet Thursday from NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero. Texans offensive coordinator Tim Kelly was also fired. (Houston Patch)
4. City of Houston approved a $4 million contract on January 12th in a 11-6 vote for marketing and media services to promote COVID-19 vaccines and testing in Houston-area schools and communities. The outreach will target specific ZIP codes with low vaccination rates that are vulnerable to illness. (Community Impact Newspaper)
5. The Holocaust Museum Houston has curated its newest exhibit, Speaking Up! Confronting Hate Speech, to help visitors see and identify hate speech and give them the tools to confront and fight it. The idea for the exhibit came up when during a rise in hate crimes against the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. (Click2Houston)
