1. Food truck venue The Table at Madeley celebrated its grand opening on April 6 at 316 Madeley St., Conroe, owner Frank Jackson said. The business is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and features four trucks on-site, including Taste the Asian, Nacho Food Truck, Kajun Eatz and Italian District. (Community Impact Newspaper)

2. An investigation is underway after police said a man was shot during a home invasion in north Houston on Thursday while his grandson was there with him. It happened in the 1000 block of Carby at around 9:48 p.m. (Click2Houston)

3. Fentanyl is now the leading cause of overdose deaths in Harris County and a new drug bust in East Houston by the DEA is highlighting the concerns. 5,000 pills and powder suspected to be fentanyl were found at the scene of the incident, according to KHOU 11. Several law enforcement agencies are working on the investigation. (KHOU 11)

4. The Astros are starting the MLB season 1-0 after defeating the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. It is the Astros 10th straight season opening win. Shohei Ohtani was outstanding for five innings on the mound, and he looked dangerous all night at the plate. (ABC 13)

5. Hermann Park Conservancy and the Houston Parks and Recreation Department have officially broken ground on the Commons, the new, 26-acre Hermann Park multi-use space coming soon. Construction is expected to be completed by January 2024. (CultureMap Houston)
