Cy-Fair Assistant Principal On Leave After Nude Photos Surface

CYPRESS, TX — A Cy-Fair ISD assistant principal was placed on administrative leave after his nude photos were leaked to a social media site and were being passed around by students, officials said.

Chris Maple, who’d served as the 8th grade assistant principal at Anthony Middle School, was relieved of his duties on July 19, and according to district officials, he won’t be returning for the 2019-2020 school year.

Maple was charged with indecent exposure in 2008 and pleaded guilty to walking outside naked and touching himself, KPRC reported. Maple paid a $300 fine and was put on probation.

The photos were allegedly circulated among students at the campus, and officials are working to determine where the photos came from and how they were distributed.

Meanwhile, Vinayak Belavadi, a former Cy-Fair ISD student, has launched an online petition on the Change.org website to stop the district from terminating Maple.

"Mr. Maple is being presumed guilty for something that isn't a crime and for something he didn't do. He is the victim of an internet troll taking advantage of his personal life," according to the petition.

Belavadi is asking for 1,000 people to sign the petition, and so far, more than 900 have come forward to support Maple. Criminal charges have not been filed against Maple.
