The storm forced campers to take cover in their tents, and high winds from the storms toppled several trees, including the tree that fell on the boys tent, KPRC reported.

Tracy Techau, president for the Atlanta-area Council of Boy Scouts, released the following statement: "We offer our deepest condolences to the victim and his family, and we will support them in any way that we can. Please join us in keeping all those affected in your thoughts and prayers."

The Boy Scout summer camp was set to wrap up on June 30.
