Dogs Attack Deputy, Boy, 13, In Spring Neighborhood

Two pit bulls and a Labrador retriever attacked and injured a deputy constable and a 13-year-old boy Monday morning.

SPRING, TEXAS — A Harris County deputy constable was forced to shoot at a group of dogs that attacked and injured a 13-year-old boy Monday morning in a Spring neighborhood, investigators said. The boy was walking to his bus stop in the 22800 block of Earlmist Drive when two pit bulls and a Labrador attacked the boy, the deputy said.

Officials said when the deputy arrived one of the dogs attacked him. The deputy shot at the dog, which was wounded but survived.

Animal control deputies arrived and managed to corral the three dogs in a backyard near the scene, officials said.

The boy was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital to be treated for bites to his leg. The deputy was also bitten by one of the dogs. The boy and deputy are expected to be okay, officials said.

Officials have not said if the attack was provoked or unprovoked.
