Houston Fire Department Investigates Reports Of Gaseous Odor
A strong smell of gas was reported in areas of northeast Houston and appears to be moving south through the Houston area, officials said.

HOUSTON, TX — A slew of calls to the Houston Fire Department about a strong gaseous odor in downtown prompted the evacuation of several buildings including the municipal courthouse Wednesday morning, Houston Fire Department officials said. Police and firefighters were initially called to the 1400 bock of Lubbock at about 9:45 a.m. for a strong smell of gas, but they were unable to find a leak.
Officials said the Houston Fire Department received several calls about a strong odor of gas in the northeast area of Houston, but they were unable to determine if there was a leak in the area.
HFD is receiving multiple calls about a gas odor across the NE side of the city. We are working with Centerpoint to locate the source. There is no shelter in place, but if you don’t have to go out, stay indoors.

Officials said the gaseous smell seems to be moving south through the city, but does not appear to be hazardous. However, officials advise anyone who smells the odor to stay indoors.
