Police Look For Man Who Shot Niece During An Argument

Police are looking for 60-year-old Leroy Houston after witnesses said he shot 21-year-old Terrelisha Cole during an argument.

HOUSTON, TX — A man is on the run after police said he shot is 21-year-old niece during a heated argument. The shooting happened at about 2:15 a.m. Monday at a home on Illinois Street near Old Spanish Trail, police said.

Witnesses told investigators that Terrelisha Cole and a man later confirmed to be her uncle, identified as 60-year-old Leroy Houston, were arguing. During the argument, Houston left the house and came back with a gun.

Cole went into the bathroom and slammed the door behind her, and that's when witnesses said Houston fired a single shot through the door, hitting Cole once in the stomach.

Cole was taken to Ben Taub Hospital and is expected to recover. Houston fled the area and is still at large.

Police said there were several people inside the home at the time of the shoot, including two small children who were asleep. No one else was injured in the shooting.
