The first of three planned two-story HEB stores opened in the Houston area on Wednesday. Two others will open in 2019

HOUSTON, TX -- The first two-story H-E-B store opened its doors to residents in Bellaire on Wednesday, but it won't be the last one of its kind in the Houston area.

Two more are planned for the Heights and Meyerland, with targeted opening dates in 2019.

The new 78,000-square-foot store replaces an older and smaller store that had served the Bellaire community for more many years.

“We have been a part of the Bellaire community for more than 24 years and are committed to our loyal customer following,” said Armando Perez, Senior Vice President, H-E-B Houston. “While the Bellaire store will offer an enhanced in-store experience with the highest standard of service and selection, we are also always looking for ways to be innovative and connect with our customers on a new level.”

The new vertical store not only offers more shopping options, but includes elevators and escalators, covered parking.

Of course, there's also the food selections that H-E-B has long been known for including: Texas-made products, healthy food selections, Kosher foods, unrivaled beer and wine selections, a full service bakery with a tortilleria, and an amazing meat and seafood selection.

But there's more.

The Roastery, a Four J Foods coffee shop and eatery is located on the second floor of the store with a separate entrance for easy access on your way in or out. This soon-to-be-open hot spot will feature indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of charm for a friendly visit, informal meeting, grabbing a cup on the go, and more.

“H-E-B has succeeded with innovative shopping and progressive in-store experiences for years and we felt it was time to take it up a notch,” said Perez.
