Harris County Introduces First Smart Playground
The Smart Playground was designed to help parents balance technology and active play for their children.
TOMBALL, TX -- Children glued to their smart phones in public parks isn’t a new phenomenon, especially after Pokemon Go took over Houston last summer. However, a new generation of smart playgrounds may give parents more options when it comes to balancing children’s technology use with active play. With an emphasis on healthy gameplay, Biba playgrounds offer a suite of interactive mobile games that keep children active.
Interested parents can check out Precinct 4’s first smart playground for children ages 5 to 12 at Burroughs Park. Suitable for children of all abilities, the playground is one of approximately 200 smart playgrounds across North America. Although smartphone games were designed to work with the equipment, children can also enjoy the playground with nothing more than their imaginations. Burroughs Park also features four other playgrounds, including a new one installed late in 2016 for children ages 2 to 5. Visit Burroughs Park at 9738 Hufsmith Road in Tomball.
