The Harris County Animal Shelter is reducing fees this week to encourage pet adoptions and ease overcrowded conditions at the shelter.

HOUSTON — The Harris County Animal Shelter is holding a May Day Adoption Special and reducing adoption fees to just $10 ahead of the Memorial Day Weekend, the shelter announced on Tuesday.

The fees will be reduced from May 22 through May 24, and will include spaying and neutering, all age appropriate vaccines, a microchip and a one-year pet license.

Last weekend, the shelter took in more than 200 dogs and cats, resulting in more overcrowding at the shelter.
