A man who brutally raped a 77-year-old woman in her apartment is wanted by police.

HOUSTON, TX — A man who police said raped a 77-year-old woman inside her apartment at an independent living facility on Oct. 1 is on the run. The attack happened at about 8 p.m., in the 13800 block of Canyon Hill Drive.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Houston Crime Stoppers released video on Oct. 29 that showed the man as he made his way into the building where the victim lives.
Police said the man forced the front door to the building open and took the elevator to the victim’s floor, and posed as a maintenance man to get into the woman’s apartment.

Police said when she opened her door, the man forced his way in and dragged her to the bedroom where he brutally raped her. The woman said the man stole money from her before he fled the area.
The man is a Hispanic man, about 6-feet tall and 220 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing and sunglasses and had tattoos on his left arm. Officials said he had facial hair, which may have been fake.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward in this case. Anyone with information on the man's identity is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
