HOUSTON — Hermann Park could be home to one of Houston’s newest dog parks if the plans are ultimately approved. The Hermann Park Conservancy held a public meeting on Tuesday to discuss plans for a new off-leash dog park at Hermann Park.

The plans for the proposed 2.4 acre dog park would border Brays Bayou and included areas for small and large breed dogs, include an interactive water feature, natural shade, surface level parking, and an improved connection between Hermann Park and Brays Bayou.

The proposed dog park is part of the Hermann Park Conservancy efforts to develop and implement a strategic planning guide that will guide park improvements over the next 20 years.

Officials believe the new design will flow seamlessly into the park's overall design.

Lauren Griffith Associates, the architectural design team for the project that renovated the park's trail system in 2011, will present the initial plans for the park before opening the floor to the public for feedback and comments.
