High School Football Playoffs: On To The Semi Finals

There are still a number of Houston area teams in the hunt for the state high school football championship.

The cream of the crop in the 2018 high school football playoffs is rising to the top and there are still a few Houston teams who are making their statement for a state crown. Several of those teams made their statement for the state crown on Friday night

Among those teams was the Cy-Creek Cougars who defeated the Summer Creek Bulldogs 43-14. The Cougars and advance to the next round of the 6A Division II race to face the winner of the Katy Tompkins-Beaumont Westbrook contest.

Also in Division II, Spring Westfield defeated Mesquite Horn 35-16 and will play the winner of the Longview - Vandergrift game in the semi-final game.

The race in 6A Division I featured six Houston area teams who were looking to advance to the next round. The Katy Tigers looked to continue, but fell to the North Shore Mustangs 49-38. The Mustangs will play the winner of the Cy-Fair - Atascocita game. Those teams kick off at 2 p.m. Saturday.

In 5A Division II, Fort Bend Marshall defeated Port Neches-Groves 53-14, and advances to the semis to play the winner of the Marshall-Huntsville match up.

On Saturday, The Woodlands Highlanders take on Allen at 1 p.m. the winner advances to the Region II semi-final game in 6A Division I, and will face the winner of the Midway-Klein Oak contest, which kicks off at 3 p.m.
