HOUSTON, TX — The air quality in Houston on Thursday is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups, and the air quality forecast predicts the same for Friday.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) for Houston was 108 on Thursday afternoon, putting it in the "unhealthy for sensitive groups" part of the air quality scale, according to AirNow.
Air quality in Houston is expected to remain at that level Friday, according to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The forecast bumps down to a moderate rating on Saturday and Sunday.

Among those considered to be in sensitive groups are people with respiratory conditions such as asthma, older adults, teens and children, according to AirNow. People who spend six or more hours per day outside also are recommended to take precautions such as choosing less strenuous activities or shortening the amount of time spent outside.
