Houston Area At Risk Of Severe Weather Monday Night: NWS

A cold front is sweeping across Texas and could bring hail, isolated tornadoes and high winds to Montgomery County and north Houston.

HOUSTON, TX — A slight risk of severe weather in the Houston area is expected Monday night as a cold front sweeps through southeast Texas, according to the National Weather Service.

Areas north of Interstate 10, particularly in Montgomery County and further north, are most at risk of severe weather, according to NWS Houston.

The cold front is expected to cause scattered showers and thunderstorms across southeast Texas, and stronger thunderstorms are expected along the line of the cold front. The worst of the storms will likely make their way through areas north and northeast of Houston beginning at around 9 p.m. Monday and move out of the region by around 4 a.m. Tuesday, forecasters said.

Large hail, isolated tornadoes and strong wind gusts are possible in the larger storms, according to weather officials.

Counties just northwest of the Houston metro, including Brazos County, have been issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p.m. Monday, with tennis ball-size hail and tornadoes possible, according to the National Weather Service.
