1. Houston's Uchiko will open its Galleria-area location on Monday, May 23rd, owner Hai Hospitality announced. Uchiko's opening comes 10 years after Uchi opened its Montrose location. Hai opened Loro earlier this year, an Asian smokehouse concept, in The Heights. (CultureMap Houston)
2. At least one Houston police officer opened fire on a suspect in the northeast part of the city Wednesday afternoon. The Houston Police Department confirmed a reported shooting with an officer involved in the 8700 block of Josie Street, not far from the I-10 East Freeway/I-610 East Loop interchange. (ABC 13)
3. A Houston man is suing a Houston club, Sugar Room, over claims of racial and gender discrimination. Willie Powells, a well-known attorney in Houston, says he was the victim in this case. According to Powells, the club would not allow him into their club in September 2021. (Fox 26 Houston)
4. Houston-based Shipley Do-Nuts plans to open 350 locations over the next five years, according to a report from Houston Chronicle. The company said in November that it would be relocating its corporate headquarters to a new 60,000-square-foot space at Cullen Boulevard and the Gulf Freeway. (ABC 13)
5. Houston Astros fans can gloat a little and know their team isn't alone after the infamous Yankee letter, obtained by SNY, revealed the New York Yankees used their video replay room to decode signals and relay them to the dugout during the 2015 and 2016 seasons and were fined $100,000. - A Montgomery County official is facing a felony charge. Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Darrin Hess was arrested for tampering with a government record. (ABC 13)
