Houston Firefighter Injured Fighting Blaze At River Oaks Home

An HFD firefighter was overcome by smoke while fighting a fire at a multi-million dollar home in River Oaks Thursday night, officials said.

HOUSTON, TX — A Houston firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation while battling a blaze at a multi-million dollar mansion in River Oaks Thursday night. Firefighters were called to the home in the 4000 block of Meadow Lake Lane at about 9:40 p.m.

Heavy smoke and flames were seen in the second story of the home when firefighters arrived. Fire officials said the modern design of the home made it difficult to battle the blaze.

As a result, firefighters ran low on oxygen in their air tanks. One of those firefighters suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The residents were able to get out of the home safely, and no one else was injured, officials said.
