Houston Fizzles As A Top Spot To Celebrate July 4th, Survey Says
What do you think about a WalletHub.com survey that rated Houston's Independence Day celebrations at No. 27?
HOUSTON — Independence Day is coming up fast, and while many in the Houston area are convinced the Bayou City is a premium destination to celebration July 4th, a recent survey suggests otherwise.
A recent WalletHub.com survey lists H-Town at No. 27 on the list of 100 July 4th destinations nationwide in 2019, and the weather may have everything to do with the lower than expected rating.
Rain can always put a damper on outdoor activities and that's especially true when it comes to anything to do with fireworks celebrations.

In fact, July 4th celebrations in the Houston area were rained out in 2018, and again in 2015 when heavy rain and storms impacted Houston and surrounding communities.
As a result, Houston ended up on the low end with a ranking of 99 out of 100 for weather.

But there’s another reason too.
Houston also got low marks for safety with a grade of 70 out of 100 on the WalletHub scale.
However, when it comes to having fun and putting on some pretty stellar July 4th celebrations, Houston scored high, landing at 9 out of the top 100 locations.

The Bayou City achieved marginal scores in the survey for affordability, and attractions and activities, rounding out its overall score.
