1. Lone Star College is partnering with New America, a national network focused on advancing a vision of a renewed America, to help address the shortage of skilled workers. The "grant will be used to learn how higher education institutions can attract students to the classroom and prepare them to enter the workforce." (Lone Star College)
2. A road rage incident on a Houston freeway led to a woman being shot in the arm. It happened at the 13600 block of the North Freeway near Beltway 8, north of Greenspoint Mall. Police believe the shooting started after one vehicle cut the other one off and then kept going down the freeway. The victim is expected to survive. (ABC 13)
3. The mother of a 17-year-old Katy ISD student who died after being stabbed during an after-school fight is heartbroken. Thinking of her son and his future now gone she said, "You're too young. You've got too much ahead of you. It's not fair to you. You didn't do anything wrong." One person is now in custody over the incident and has been charged with murder. (KHOU 11)
4. Houston ranks first on a list of major U.S. metro areas with the most construction permits issued for single-family homes from 2012 to 2021, according to a report from StorageCafe. There were 392,136 permits issued for single-family homes during that time. (CultureMap Houston)
5. The restaurateurs behind three Michelin-star El Cella de Can Roca are opening the first U.S. location of their ice cream shop, Rocambolesc Gelateria, in Houston's Uptown Park at 1101 Uptown Park Blvd Suite 10. The concept also has locations in Spain's Barcelona, Girona, and Madrid. (Eater Houston)
