Houston H-E-B Thanksgiving Parade To Make Return

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner announced Monday that the annual parade would return for its 72nd edition after being canceled in 2020.

HOUSTON, TX — Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and H-E-B announced the return of the H-E-B Thanksgiving Parade in Houston on Monday.

The 72nd edition of the parade will take place at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving, Nov. 25, and it marks the return of the event after its cancellation in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the city and H-E-B teamed up to distribute Thanksgiving meal kits to people in need.

The parade route will span 20 blocks in downtown Houston.

The Cirque du Soleil Alegria highlights the performances scheduled for the parade, which include marching band performances from Texas Southern's Ocean of Soul, 323rd Army Band, Waltrip High School and Elsik High School. Other notable appearances include Turner, U.S. Rep. Al Green, Orbit and the Shooting Stars from the Houston Astros, the Houston Texans cheerleaders, Star Wars Galactic Alliance and Santa Claus.

Joining H-E-B as sponsors for the parade include McDonald's, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, HCA Houston Healthcare, Goya, KHOU 11, Hyatt Regency, Highland Village and Air Liquide.
