1. A Houston woman was among the three people recently pardoned by U.S. President Joe Biden. 51-year-old Betty Jo Bogans was convicted in 1998 of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine after attempting to transport drugs for her boyfriend. (KHOU 11)
2. The rising use of fake paper car tags is costing Harris County millions of dollars and is a financial and safety problem that requires a statewide solution, officials said in an announcement. The number of known "police incidents" involving fake tags in the county has increased 306 percent from 2016. (Houston Patch)
3. The Montgomery ISD board of trustees voted April 19th to approve the compensation package for the upcoming 2022-23 school year, which includes a $2,000 raise for teachers and an approximately 3% raise on the midpoint value for staff. (ABC 13)
4. Comedian and actor Chris Rock has added another show to his Saturday, November 5 tour date at Smart Financial Centre. Fans of Rock can look forward to another performance, also at 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 6. Rock's popularity has skyrocketed since he was slapped by Will Smith at the Oscars this year. 5. Two Houston-area health care clinic owners were found guilty in federal court of fraudulently billing patients for home health services, whether needed or not. U.S. Attorney Jennifer Lowery said that Alfred Alatan and Francis Ekene were found guilty of conspiracy to commit and committing health care fraud on Monday. Alatan was also found guilty of money laundering. (CW 39)
