Houston Prepares For Storms, Tornadoes Friday Night
Heavy rain and thunderstorms on Friday night will bring a wet start to the weekend, but clear skies come back on Saturday.

HOUSTON, TX — The weather has been cool and mild in recent weeks, but that all changes with storms forecasted to dump more than six inches of rain over much of the Houston area late Friday.
The rain won’t have much of an impact on traffic when it moves through the southeast Texas region late Friday and early Saturday, but localized flooding is expected with some areas likely to receive more than 10 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
As is often the case with heavy rain in Houston, residents can expect street flooding in some areas, as well as flooding from creeks, rivers, and bayous.

Local leaders in some lake communities have already launched plans to lower lake levels ahead of the storms.
Houston City Councilman Dave Martin said Monday that levels on Lake Houston would be lowered to ensure flooding would be non-existent to minimal in the northeast Houston community.

Tornadoes will also be a possibility with this storm, according to forecasters. The rain clears out early Saturday, leaving sunny skies and mild temperatures for the weekend.
