HOUSTON, TX — Thunderstorms and lightning have forced a ground stop at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), causing significant delays for departing and arriving flights Tuesday morning.
According to an advisory from the Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC), the ground stop went into effect at 9 a.m. CST and is expected to last until 11:15 a.m. CST.
The weather conditions led to a ramp freeze, preventing aircraft from taxiing and forcing airborne flights to hold at multiple fixes.
