HPD Chopper Crashes During Hard Landing At Hobby Airport
Two HPD officers shaken up after a hard landing and subsequent crash at Hobby Airport Thursday night, police said.

HOUSTON — A HPD helicopter crashed while making what police described as a hard landing Thursday night. The crashed happened at about 8:40 p.m.near the department’s hangar in the 8400 block of Larson Road, police said.
Police said the pilot who was in training, and the flight training officer where coming back from a routine flight. Police said the helicopter landed hard for some reason and overturned onto its side.
One of our Fox helicopters had a hard landing incident near our hangar at 8400 Larson (near Hobby Airport) about 8:40 pm. Fortunately, our pilot and flight training officer on board were able to get out of and walk from the aircraft without serious injury.

The aircraft was severely damaged, but both officers walked away unharmed, police said. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
