Hurricane Barry: Houston Taking Donations For Storm Victims
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner called New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell on Thursday and offered to provide assistance.

HOUSTON, TX — The City of Houston has opened a hub to help those in Louisiana impacted by Hurricane Barry. The Houston Relief Hub opened on Friday to prepare to take in donations of non-perishable food, bottled water, and cleaning supplies that will be needed after the storm passes through the region on Monday.
Barry, which is projected to make landfall just west of New Orleans, formed off Florida's gulf coast on Thursday. Projections early in the week had the storm impacting the Houston/Galveston region.
The storm shifted more easterly on Thursday and is projected to impact the Louisiana coastline on Saturday. The outer bands of the storm have pummeled southern Louisiana since Thursday, bringing widespread flooding in downtown New Orleans.
