HOUSTON, TX — After two years of cancellations and modifications, residents in cities and counties across the country are looking forward to many of the traditional Independence Day activities that mark the summer holiday. July 4 is tomorrow, so there's still time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you in 2022.

We have all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around Houston so you can start planning now.

July 4 Festivities

What: Shell Freedom Over Texas

Where: Eleanor Tinsley and Sam Houston Parks on Buffalo Bayou (along Allen Parkway)

When: 4-10 p.m., July 4

After two years of modified celebrations because of COVID-19, Houston's premier 4th of July celebration and fireworks show returns in person in 2022. Country artist and Houston native Clay Walker is the headliner, and other artists performing at the festival include Step Rideau and the Zydeco Outlaws, Walker County, Blanco Brown and Sawyer Brown. The event will feature food and entertainment for all ages and wraps up with a Texas-sized fireworks display. Admission is $10 and children 5 and under get in free.


What: CityCentre Independence Day Fireworks

Where: CityCentre (800 Town and Country Blvd, Houston)

When: 7-11 p.m., July 4

Featuring music from The After Party, the Independence Day celebration at CityCentre in west Houston will have a 10-minute fireworks spectacular at 9:30 p.m. Parking at CityCentre garages is $10, and food will be available for purchase in the shopping areas numerous restaurants.


What: City of Bellaire Celebration of Independence

Where: Bellaire Town Square (7008 S. Rice Ave.)

When: 9:30 a.m., July 4

The celebration kicks off with two parades, one of which is a children's bike parade. The full parade route begins at South Rice Avenue and Valerie Street and runs north to Linden Street. The bike parade follows the same route but begins at Rice and Evergreen Street. A festival will follow the two parades at Bellaire Town Square on the Great Lawn and Loftin Park, featuring food and live music performances.


What: City of Nassau Bay Independence Day Celebration

Where: David Braun Park (18900 Upper Bay Road)

When: Noon-9 p.m., July 4

Nassau Bay's festivities begin with a city-wide water fight from noon to 2 p.m. Participants must display a stars and stripes bandana on their person, wagon or cart (motor vehicles and water balloons are not allowed). Participant bandanas may be picked up July 3 and July 4 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at 18639 Prince William Lane. A festival at David Braun Park, which includes a pie contest, food vendors and live music, begins at 6 p.m., as does the city's parade honoring veterans. It all concludes with fireworks over the lake at 9 p.m. More information on the festivities is available on the event's website.


What: Katy Freedom Celebration

Where: Typhoon Texas (555 Katy Fort Bend Road)

When: All-day, July 4

The City of Katy and Typhoon Texas water park are putting on Katy's 4th of July Celebration, with food and entertainment all day at the water park. The city's fireworks display will start at 9 p.m., with optimal viewing from the park or nearby Katy Mills Mall.


What: Pearland Celebration of Freedom

Where: Independence Park (3449 Pearland Parkway)

When: 6-10 p.m., July 4

The event will feature live music from Adrian Michael and the Greenway Band, and rides and attractions can be enjoyed with a $5 wristband. There also will be food trucks, vendors and giveaways at the event.


What: Sugar Land's Red White & Boom

Where: The Crown Festival Park (18355 Southwest Freeway)

When: 6-10 p.m., July 4

The gates open at 5 p.m., and entertainment, food and activities begin at 6 p.m. There will be live music, children's activities, food and a fireworks and laser show to end the day.


What: Tomball July 4th Celebration and Street Fest

Where: 28000 Tomball Parkway

When: 6 p.m., July 4

Tomball's celebration will include fireworks, food, music and more.


What: Galena Park 4th of July Celebration

Where: Pony Field (1016 16th St., Galena Park)

When: 5-9 p.m., July 4

There will be free carnival attractions, including bungee trampoline, rock wall climbing and zip line, as well as face painting, a photo booth, live music and fireworks. Entrance to the swimming pool will be free during the event.


What: Jersey Village 4th of July Fireworks and Concert

Where: Clark Henry Park (7804 Equador St.)

When: 5:30 p.m., July 4

Senate Avenue Brewing and the City of Jersey Village are teaming up to put on the city's first 4th of July celebration event. A community parade kicks off the festivities, which include a concert by The Fab 5, a Beatles and 60s tribute band. There will be food trucks and bounce houses, and the event will conclude with a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m.
