Katy Man Killed In California Motorcycle Crash
Authorities believe mechanical failure caused the crash that killed Marcos Antonio Lopez, 38 of Katy, Texas.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — A motorcyclist killed Saturday morning in a California crash has been identified as Marcos Antonio Lopez, 38 of Katy, Texas, authorities said.
The crash occurred at around 10:45 a.m., according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.
Lopez was riding westbound on Point Reyes Petaluma Road, in Chileno Valley, which transitions into the 6500 block of Red Hill Road, when the solo crash occurred, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Authorities believe mechanical failure caused the crash.
“Ultimately this (mechanical defect) caused him to lose control of the vehicle resulting in him being ejected from the motorcycle to the surrounding ground and vegetation,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Witnesses found Lopez unconscious and unresponsive in cardiopulmonary arrest, the Sheriff’s Office said.
A bystander performed CPR and medical aid was provided until first responders arrived at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.
“Paramedics provided emergent advanced resuscitative aid on the scene, and regrettably the subject failed to respond to the treatment provided,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
“His death was pronounced on the scene.”
Lopez’s cause of death is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office – Coroner Division.
