Man Charged With Murder In Grandmother's Slaying In Cypress: Sheriff
While being arrested, Chad Maydwell admitted to assaulting his father and killing his grandmother, according to authorities.
CYPRESS, TX — A man has been charged with murder in the killing of his 80-year-old grandmother, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Chad Maydwell, 30, admitted to killing Juduth Maydwell as well as assaulting his father while he was arrested Sunday, deputies said.
Juduth Maydwell was found dead in her living room at 16162 Golden Sands Drive in Cypress on Saturday. The sliding glass door in the house had been shattered, and Maydwell had suffered several blunt trauma injuries, according to authorities.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office received a tip from the victim's family that Chad Maydwell was wanted by the Grimes County Sheriff's Office for aggravated assault of his father stemming from an incident that occurred last week. Family members also told police Chad Maydwell's car was near Juduth Maydwell's house on Friday, according to authorities.
Deputies tracked down Chad Maydwell early Sunday on Jarvis Road in Cypress before he fled into a wooded area. A Harris County Sheriff's Office K9 unit found Maydwell and arrested him with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety and air support from the sheriff's office.

Maydwell was booked into Harris County Jail and faces an assault charge in Grimes County in addition to the murder charge in Harris County. He has a court appearance scheduled in the 184th District Court, according to jail records.
