Man Loses It Over Slow Fast Food Service, Damages Sonic Drive-In

Joshua Defriese allegedly caused nearly $7,000 in damages to a Sonic Drive-In because his food order took too long, police said.

HOUSTON, TX — Police arrested a man who became angry when his fast food order took too long, and caused nearly $7,000 in damages to the outside of the restaurant. The incident happened Sunday afternoon at the Sonic Drive-In restaurant in the 32200 block of Northwest Freeway.

Deputy constables spoke with employees who said a customer had placed his order and apparently lost his temper when his order was taking too long.

Witnesses said the man, later identified as 33-year-old Joshua Defriese, damaged a door and a digital menu outside the restaurant, and the fled the area in his vehicle. Officials said Defriese caused an estimated $6,800 in damages.

Deputies were later able to find Defriese, and he was brought back to the Sonic where he was positively identified by employees.

"Joshua Defriese was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Felony Criminal Mischief. His bond was set at $1,500.00 out of the 182nd District Court," Constable Mark Herman said.
