Man Found Covered With Blood Accused Of Mother's Murder

Investigators said Gabriel Pereyra allegedly stabbed his mother as she sat in a chair inside her home.​

HOUSTON, TX — A 34-year-old man has been charged with the brutal murder of his 67-year-old mother, police said Friday. Harris County Sheriff's deputies were called to an apartment complex in the 19300 block of Park Row on Friday evening for a stabbing.

When deputies arrived, they found a woman laying in the parking lot and bleeding profusely from her head. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

After a brief investigation, deputies found Gabriel Pereyra inside his mother's home, and covered in blood, officials said. Investigators said Pereyra allegedly stabbed his mother as she sat in a chair inside her home.

Deputies said she then ran out of the apartment to try and get help, but collapsed and died on the sidewalk near the parking lot.

The Harris County District Attorney's Office accepted the charge of murder Pereyra. He is being held in the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility awaiting arraignment
