Judge Sets $1M Bond For Man Accused In Homeless Woman's Death
Julian Sosa, 22, who is accused of running over and killing a homeless woman while running from police, is charged with felony murder.

HOUSTON — A judge has set bail at $1 million for a 22-year-old man who police said ran over and killed a homeless woman while fleeing from police. Julian Marcelino Sosa is being held in the Harris County Jail and is charged with felony murder and felony possession of a weapon.
Police said the crash happened at about 6 a.m. Sunday in the 13100 block of Interstate 45 at Rankin Road. According to a press release, a Harris County Deputy Constable was working in the area when he said a Cadillac CT passed him at a high rate of speed.
The deputy turned on his emergency lights and tried to pull the driver of the Cadillac over but the driver refused to pull over, police said.

The Cadillac exited I-45 at Rankin Road a high rate of speed, which caused the driver, identified as Sosa, to lose control and crash into a traffic control utility box. Police said a 34-year old homeless woman who was sleeping in front of the box, was run over when the Cadillac hit the traffic control box.
Sosa got out of the car and tried to flee, but he was caught a short distance from the crash, and was placed under arrest.

First responders were able to remove the woman from beneath the car, but she died at a local hospital from her injuries. She has not yet been identified.
Sosa was taken to a local hospital for precautionary examination, and a mandatory blood draw was also conducted to determine if he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Police found a handgun inside the Cadillac during an inventory of the car.
