March 12 is Detrans Awareness Day

Ever hear about "detransitioners" in the news? It's time to find out that sex changes are hardly settled science.

Do a google news search on "detrans" & see what very little is being discussed

I don't know if you've heard what's going on with TX politics. I don't want to get your stress level up, but I think that the poor-quality politicians calling themselves "conservatives" here did land on something with working to halt medicating kids "diagnosed" with gender dysphoria (more on why I used quotes for this diagnosis below). If you do some research on it, you'll find out that (a) kids are self-diagnosing and (b) puberty blockers lead to adults who can't orgasm or can't experience strong orgasms (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/women-who-stray/202111/does-affirmative-treatment-impair-sexual-response-in-trans-youth). And all the kids that are put on them are sterilized (https://www.economist.com/united-states/2021/10/16/opinion-on-the-use-of-puberty-blockers-in-america-is-turning). There's a growing detransition community (March 12 is Destrans Awareness Day), and for some reason there are zero news articles on them in the general press (see this article's opening image). I can find articles on trans people suffering to have a pregnancy (obviously after becoming adult) but nothing on detransition. And the stories that destrans people tell are heartbreaking, each one at the fundamental level explaining that they were experiencing a major life problem & decided that a sex change would fix everything (https://www.detransvoices.org/). Then there are experts in the field saying that therapists are being "sloppy" & that many young people are going to "regret" the decision (https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/963269). Anyways, I worry this violence people are doing to their bodies is because of some perceived conflict with gender roles, & it's disturbing as hell. The internet has gone crazy with the pronouns, which I ignored, & I'm seeing more gender neutral bathrooms, which I rather prefer. But yeah, I'm genuinely glad someone, although corrupt and authoritarian, who certainly is not doing it for any of the reasons I just stated, is inadvertently protecting the kids in this. In everything else they're doing politically, the kids are at more risk, but at least this buys time for the detrans community to get some mainstream media attention.

As this article will be met with fierce backlash, which is natural since people harmed themselves irrevocably and really don't like having that pointed out. I'm going to summarize some details from this article, "Transgender Teens: Is the Tide Starting to Turn?" by Becky McCall and Lisa Nainggolan in Medscape (https://www.medscape.com/viewa...)

  • A study from Sweden in adults who had both medically and surgically transitioned found that death by suicide was still almost 20-fold higher in this group compared with cisgender [those identifying with their birth sex] individuals [14]. A study from the Netherlands found similar results [15].

  • Even Transgender Adults Are Sounding an Alarm
  • Last year, Wall Street Journal contributor Abigail Shrier's book Irreversible Damage: Teenage Girls and the Transgender Craze created a furor when it was first published..."Many adolescent girls identifying as transgender don't actually want to become men. They simply want to flee womanhood like a house on fire, their minds fixed on escape, not on any particular destination. They feel alienated from their bodies and the changes brought by puberty: acne, periods and breast development, and uncomfortable attention from men….This is a story Americans need to hear."
  • Some therapists interviewed by Shrier believe that these girls are actually experiencing a type of 'body dysmorphia' not unlike anorexia nervosa, and others are concerned that they are repressed lesbians, and that an internal kind of 'homophobia' is fueling their desire to be male.
  • Endocrine Society Guidelines Based on One Study...The recommendations are based on a single uncontrolled study out of the Netherlands (the so-called 'Dutch' study, published in 2014 [13]), which Malone says was of low quality.
  • "These interventions are Experimental"; Maturity Not Reached Until Age 25..."The UK ruling, from an endocrinology point of view, is that these interventions are experimental, that young people can't understand the implications of initiating puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries — and that makes sense based on our understanding of brain development," he explains.
  • It is for this reason, too, that Malone dislikes the 'informed consent' model of affirming gender that he says now exists in the United States. As well as the numerous specialized gender clinics, there are multiple other providers of hormones for young people with gender dysphoria, such as Planned Parenthood, which will now provide cross-sex hormones for anyone self-identifying as transgender as long as they sign an agreement indicating that they are aware of the medical risks associated with hormone therapy.
  • several clinicians who have been treating these children are themselves now starting to express regret.

Finally, I ask: who's making money from people taking drugs for the rest of their lives? Diabetes for example is wildly profitable for drug manufacturers and associated health care specialties (e.g. dialysis). Who's profiting off all this Endocrinology Pharma? By how much? How much does each sex change & constant medicating cost?
