MD Anderson Cancer Center Flagged In Federal Probe
The deficiencies were noted during an investigation conducted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
HOUSTON — MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the leading cancer care facilities in the world, is under federal investigation related to their patient care and patient safety requirements, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Officials noted the deficiencies were related to a blood transfusion, and warned that the hospital will be under greater federal scrutiny in the wake of this adverse incident, the Houston Chronicle reported.
Administrators have not indicated if the adverse incident involved a serious patient injury or death related to hospital procedures, or if it was related to physician error.
