1. Houston-based Texas Mattress Makers has just opened a sixth location in Rosenberg near the Brazos Town Crossing Shopping Mall. The company is offering specials to celebrate its opening through early April. (Click2Houston)

2. Houston-area trucker Doug Greenwood says a big rig fill-up of diesel fuel is running about twice as much as before the pandemic. Nationally, diesel prices average $5.13 a gallon, according to the government. The rising prices are squeezing Houston's trucking industry. (Fox 26 Houston)

3. On Monday, March 28, the first phase of the Memorial Park Land bridge tunnels, eastbound, will open to the public, Memorial Park Conservancy announced. Drivers should expect the first eastbound tunnel to open at around 11:30 am Monday. The westbound tunnel is expected to open in April. (CultureMap Houston)

4. An investigation is underway into a deadly overnight shooting at a west Houston car wash at around 10 p.m. Friday in the 3100 block of South Dairy Ashford Road. A commander at the scene said two men tried to rob a father and son while they were washing their car. The suspects were in ski masks when they held up the duo at gun point. (KHOU 11)

5. Blood Bros. BBQ co-owner Terry Wong was recently diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer and has been healing from surgery. Now, on the road to recovery, Wong is hoping to raise awareness for the disease. According to the American Cancer Society, colon and rectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men and the second most common cause of cancer deaths when men and women are combined.
