METRO Announces Temporary Adjustments To Weekend Rail Service

METRO will temporarily modify its rail services this weekend to allow for upgrades and repairs, officials announced.

HOUSTON, TX -- Beginning Friday, Oct. 19, METRORail service will be modified at several locations to allow work crews to complete upgrades and repairs over the weekend.

Temporary adjustments to rail service will take place on the following dates:

  • Friday, Oct. 19: METRORail Red Line's northbound track will be closed between Wheeler and Downtown Transit Center stations from 10:30 p.m. until end of service. METRO staff and/or platform signage will direct riders to board north and southbound trains at southbound platforms.
  • Saturday, Oct. 20: Two-way bus shuttle service will be provided every 10 minutes between METRORail Red Line's TMC Transit Center and Northline stations from start of service until end of service. METRO staff and/or platform signage will direct riders to board at nearby bus shuttle stops.
  • Saturday, Oct. 20: Two-way bus shuttle service will be provided every 10 minutes between METRORail Green/Purple Lines' Theater District and EADO stations from the start of service until 5 p.m. METRO staff and/or platform signage will direct riders to board at nearby bus shuttle stops.
  • Sunday, Oct. 21: METRORail Red Line's northbound track will be closed between Wheeler and Downtown Transit Center stations from start of service until 7 p.m. METRO staff and/or platform signage will direct riders to board north and southbound trains at southbound platforms.

METRO's TRIP App and Next Bus Arrival Texting service may not reflect accurate departure and arrival information during this time. Please monitor METRO's Twitter and Facebook pages for timely updates. METRO also offers real-time information through its service alerts system.
