Mom Abandons 2 Young Sons At Houston Cell Phone Store: Police

A mother with two young boys wandered into a Houston cell phone store on Wednesday and abandoned them, police said.

HOUSTON, TX — Houston Police are trying to find a woman who abandoned her children at a northwest Houston cell phone store on Wednesday. Muhammad Naeem had just opened the Boost Mobile store in the 6000 block of W. Tidwell Road when a woman came in with two young boys, police said.

Naeem said he was alarmed when the woman asked him if he wanted her kids. He promptly told her no.

The woman said her husband had kicked her and the boys out their apartment, and when she went to stay with a friend, they’d also kicked them out, leaving her homeless.

Naeem said the boys, who were aged 2-and 4-years-old, were crying so he gave them some food, so he asked the woman to wait so he could call the police to get her some help. But the woman left the store and left her boys behind along with a bag.

Police searched the bag when they arrived later and found the woman’s drivers license. Child Protective Services were called and took custody of the two boys until they were able to locate a family member late Wednesday.

CPS investigators said the boys showed no signs of abuse and appeared to be in good health.

Police didn’t say if charges would be filed against the woman.
