Mom Who Left Son In Hot Car Is Caught Shoplifting: Police

Dimitric Knight, who was detained for shoplifting an a Houston Walmart, was arrested and charged with child endangerment.

HOUSTON, TX — A woman who allegedly left her 7-year-old child in the car while she did a little shoplifting at an area Walmart was arrested on Wednesday.

Deputy constables were called to the Walmart store in the 24800 block of Aldine Westfield Road regarding a shoplifting incident.

Employees told deputies that Dimitric Knight tried to walk out the store with more than $70 in cosmetics she'd allegedly put in her purse.

During the course of the investigation, the deputy discovered Knight had left her 7-year-old son in the backseat of her vehicle for over 40 minutes.

Deputies found the vehicle and saw that it was not running, with temperatures above 90 degrees and only one window down approximately 4 inches.

The child was treated at the location before being released to a family member. The stolen makeup was returned to Walmart.

Knight was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Child Endangerment. Her bail is set at $1,000.
