Power Near Fully Restored In Houston After Severe Thunderstorms
A line of morning thunderstorms brought high winds and heavy rainfall, leaving at least 50,000 without power early Wednesday.
HOUSTON, TX — Power has been almost fully restored to Houston customers Wednesday after a line of thunderstorms moved through Harris County in the morning.
As of 5 p.m., just under 3,000 customers were without power in CenterPoint Energy's coverage area. The areas most affected are north Houston inside Beltway 8 as well as areas west of The Woodlands, according to CenterPoint Energy's outage tracker map.
A little over 50,000 customers were without power at approximately 9:40 a.m., KHOU's Bill Bishop reported on Twitter. At 11 a.m., nearly 39,000 were without power, and at 1 p.m. that number was down to 17,000.

The storms produced heavy winds and rainfall as well as several tornado warnings. The storms formed along the line of a cold front that moved into southeast Texas on Wednesday morning.
