Obituary: Ryne Timothy Theis

Ryne lived life to the fullest, enjoying time with friends and family.

Ryne Timothy Theis, 39, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Morris, Illinois, passed away on September 28, 2025, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Ryne lived life to the fullest, enjoying time with friends and family. He had an extensive list of passions and interests including disc golf, darts, boating, building vehicles, and riding motorcycles.

Born on November 8, 1985, Ryne was the beloved son of John (Mike) Theis and Mary Kay (McDonald) Theis. He attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and graduate from Morris Community High School.

Ryne’s greatest happiness came with the birth of his son, Brodie Nolan Theis, who was the light of his life. He is also survived by his brother, Jake (Amanda Halm) Theis; his sister, Erin (Justin) Knapp; and his nieces and nephews, Vaughn Mills, Elise Theis, and Maddy, Will, Jack, and Theis Knnapp. He will be remembered with love by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Dee McDonald, John (Jake) and Margie Theis, Keith and Jean Palmer, as well as his uncle Tim McDonald.

Ryne was involved in the startup of his family’s business, Petal Pushers Garden Center in Channahon, Illinois, and later built a career that took him across the country. His work with Ritchie Brothers brought him to Las Vegas and beyond, and he ultimately settled in the Houston metro where he worked as a building engineer for Lifetime Fitness.

Friends and family will remember him fondly as a free-spirited, fearless, and mechanically gifted-able to fix anything. He had a one-of-a-kind ability to light up a room, making every person feel like the most important one there. He was the life of every gathering and will be deeply missed.

Visitation and services will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 4:00- 7:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris, IL 60450. In honor of Ryne, who lived simply and authentically, the family invites friends and loved ones to come as they are and feel free to dress casually.
