1. Henderson & Kane is bringing its modern general store to the Houston Farmers Market this fall. It will be the second location and have picnic-style seating both indoors and outside. A full barbeque menu will be offered for lunch and dinner. (CultureMap Houston)

2. Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo announced on Thursday that she is lowering the county's COVID-19 threat level from red, the most severe, to orange, which means there is still a significant and uncontrolled level of the virus in the area. The change comes as COVID-19 cases decline nationwide. (ABC 13)

3. The law enforcement officer who was injured in a shooting at PlazAmericas mall in Houston has died, according to authorities. The shooting occurred on Wednesday afternoon. A name for the victim has not been released, although police revealed the deputy worked with the San Jacinto County Precinct 1 Constable's Office. (CBS Dallas)

4. Houston has filed a Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code Chapter 125 common nuisance lawsuit seeking a temporary and permanent injunction against the owners of Spivey's Bar and Lounge after 5 people were shot last week there. Third Ward residents gathered afterward at a "No More Crime" event where they demanded action on rising crime in the area. (Fox 26 Houston)

5. Houston businessman and law professor Tony Chase and his wife, Dr. Dina Alsowayel, have committed $1 million to the University of Texas School of Architecture to honor Chase's father, who is the school's first Black graduate and the Texas' first licensed Black architect. Chase's father designed at least 300 homes, schools, churches, and other structures. (Houston Chronicle)
