Power Outage: Storms Leave 50,000 In The Dark

Storms knocked out power to an estimated 50,000 residents in Humble, Houston and Fort Bend County Saturday night.

HUMBLE, TX — An estimated 50,000 residents in Humble, Fort Bend County, and in Houston were without power Saturday night as storms blew through parts of the Houston area.

Power was restored to most of the affected homes, but as of 10 a.m. Sunday, there were still about 6,000 residents in Fort Bend and Harris Counties without power.

Storms began making their way through the Houston area at about 8 p.m. Saturday evening with severe thunderstorm warnings issued for residents in Fort Bend, Brazoria, Galveston, Montgomery and Harris counties through the evening hours.

Most of the outages occurred east of Interstate 69 and should be fully restored Sunday afternoon, according to CenterPoint officials.
