A Smooth Move to Eagle's Trace

In March 2024, Marsha Bower moved from her house in Richmond, Tex., to a residence at Eagle's Trace, an Erickson Senior Living community in West Houston, Tex.--and it was so easy.

That's because she took advantage of the Erickson Realty and Moving Services program, which connects Priority List members with trusted resources, like real estate agents, downsizing and packing experts, and moving companies, to make the moving process as streamlined as possible.

"I used all of the moving services that Eagle's Trace recommended. It's the only way to go, in my opinion!" says Marsha.

Getting started

To make the move even easier for incoming Eagle's Trace residents, Haven Benoit, the community's planning and moving consultant, offers complimentary home visits and coordinates all the services they wish to use.

Benoit notes that, for many people, furniture planning is the most significant benefit of a home visit.

"By mapping out how their current furniture will fit in their residence, Priority List members get a better idea of what their new living space will look like," she explains. "And if they want to purchase new furniture or decor, I can help them determine what size, so they don't buy something too big or small for the space."

Benoit also uses each home visit as an opportunity to discuss any steps in the moving process they might be anxious about.

"Based on that conversation, I can refer them to our preferred real estate agents, movers, and senior move managers, who have resources for estate sales, online auctions, and other means to sell or donate their unwanted items," she says. "I connect all the dots so incoming residents don't have to deal with anything they don't want to."

Expert support

Excited to personalize her new home, Marsha worked with the community's Custom Interiors team to come up with a design plan before contacting vendors.

With a range of paint, flooring, and storage options, Custom Interiors helps current and incoming residents design their dream home for an additional fee.

"I chose new paint colors throughout, selected new floors, and had a new backsplash installed in my kitchen. I also upgraded my walk-in closet and had ceiling fans installed," says Marsha. "I sensed this would be my 'home for life,' so it seemed logical to create my apartment to my personal liking and taste. My apartment was just how I envisioned it to be when I moved in."

Once the updates were complete, Marsha reached out to all the vendors recommended to her, including a local real estate agent who boasted years of experience in the area; a senior move manager who helped her declutter, pack, and unpack; and a moving company to transport her belongings with care.

"Eagle's Trace has the expertise and expert staff when it comes to moving seniors. I honestly doubt I would have ever proceeded on my own," Marsha says. "I trusted everyone involved and followed their advice step by step through each phase."

She continues, "I had a stellar real estate agent and move manager to help me pack and downsize. The day I moved in, everything was in place, organized and put away--including my bed, which was made up with clean sheets. I slept like a baby, feeling relieved and very happy!"

Full steam ahead

As a Priority List member, Marsha enjoyed a range of other valuable perks, but the personalized planning and moving support she received was the most impactful one by far.

"People often say, 'I can't believe it was this easy. I've never experienced a move like this before!'" notes Benoit.

"My move to Eagle's Trace was such a great decision--for many reasons," agrees Marsha, who has been living life to the fullest since settling into her residence. "I enjoy the multiple restaurants, the variety of clubs, and numerous activities."

She continues, "I'm a world traveler. When I recently returned from a two-week cruise and made my way to my new apartment, I must have encountered eight to ten friends welcoming me home and anxious to hear about my trip.
