Strong Cold Front Coming Through Houston Early Saturday: NWS

HOUSTON, TX — Another cold front is expected to move through Houston overnight Friday and early Saturday morning, bringing showers and subfreezing temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service Houston is expecting the cold front to reach Houston between 3 and 6 a.m. Saturday.

Strong northwesterly winds and showers are expected to follow the cold front, with most of the rain and wind concentrated in the southern part of the Greater Houston area. Gale conditions could develop in the coastal areas of southeast Texas, a wind advisory could be issued for southern counties in the region, according to NWS Houston.

The cold front also is expected to bring wind chill conditions below freezing to the area, so precautions should be taken to ensure plants and pipes do not freeze. In Houston, the wind chill is expected to get down to 27 degrees in the early hours Sunday, according to NWS Houston.

In Houston, the low temperature is expected to be 35 degrees with a 11 percent chance of rain Saturday, according to Accuweather. On Sunday, the forecasted low is 36 degrees.
