Texas Actor Jason Kyle Johnson Honors Texas Roots

Retired professional Motocross racer, Jason Kyle Johnson, now a professional actor, is remembering his Texas roots and honoring where he comes from, as he pursues, and thrives in his career as a television and film actor. Johnson stated, “How my parents raised me had a lot to do with who I am today, of course, but I also feel that growing up in a small Texas town like Dripping Springs has helped to mold me also. I was taught and learned to treat people with respect, to be thoughtful and selfless, and to learn from my mistakes. Having these values has helped me to cultivate meaningful professional relationships. I know the importance of showing up fully prepared to set, and I have a high level of determination and drive, knowing that I will never give up on achieving my goals and dreams.”

Jason has appeared on Walker in a role as a Texas Ranger often appearing alongside Matt Barr and Jared Padelecki. Walker was created by Anna Fricke.

Jason Johnson also portrays Derek on The Secret Life of Amy Benson produced by PassionFlix. Passionflix is an OTT entertainment streaming platform and production company. The platform was created and co-founded in 2017 by director and producer Tosca Musk, producer Jina Panebianco, and writer Joany Kane.

Johnson recalls that one of the best parts of living in Dripping Springs was that it is only about a 30 minute drive to Austin, stating, “Drip, as the locals call it, was far enough away from the city to feel like you weren't part of the busy city life but it was just close enough to enjoy the city amenities. Dripping Springs itself though is a beautiful place.”

Johnson recently played a supporting role in the film Zorgon The Wonder Horse. Zorgon The Wonder Horse is currently making its rounds in several film festivals, such as The Wild Bunch Film Festival in Tucson, AZ where Johnson was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. “It was so much fun because I absolutely love the western genre and the entire cast and crew were awesome. My horse for the film, Grady, was an absolute joy to work with. I would say getting to ride Grady was my favorite part of the whole production. Grady made me look good.” Stating, “Horses are so intelligent and when treated right they reciprocate with so much love and respect. They truly have personalities of their own and quickly become part of the family. It's also amazing to me how big and powerful they are while remaining so nimble and athletic. They really are incredible animals.”

One of Jason Johnson’s goals, “I would love to work on a Taylor Sheridan Production.” Stating, “I am confident that I would bring what is necessary to portray a role on any of his Western genre productions. I have so much respect for Taylor Sheridan’s work. He (Taylor Sheridan) has a way of writing that makes you fall in love with the subject matter. He shows the struggles ranchers and cowboys encounter. Sheridan’s writing shows every character's strengths and weaknesses which makes them more relatable and exciting to watch.”

Concluding, “I believe that where you grow up has a lot to do with who you end up as a person. I feel blessed to have grown up in a small town that was close enough to the city so that I could gain perspective on two very different ways of life. This has helped me show compassion and understanding to all people no matter where they are from or what they believe.”
